All in all a very impressive tool that I have used myself for many jobs both kind and severe. I think you will be amazed as I was as to its capabilities and ease of use. I will detail the operation of the Easy Cut Ratchet secateur below.

Slide the branch to be pruned firmly under the blade and close handle together without forcing them. Please note it is normal for the secateurs not to completely cut the branch in one closing of the handles.
Allow the secateurs to return to the open handle position, so as to allow the pawl to engage with the next notch on the ratchet mechanism.You will hear a small click.
Repeat untill the branch is cut off. Dont rush the job take a few cuts rather one or two strained cuts and the secateur will do the job.

Instructions:
1. Fully open the handles which are made of high tensile steel, to reset the ratchet system to the first notch.
2. Close the handles until the ratchet mechanism's screw will move no further within the ratchet mechanism.
3. Open the handles slightly and the ratchet mechanism will click to the second notch.
4. Close the handles again until the ratchet mechanism's screw will move no further in the mechanism. Repeat this operation till the last notch is reached. Never try to cut in one go take time let the ratchet do the work and the arm with the black lever attached to black plate is the one that does the cutting action so use you arm and effort on this handle the other one you could just support but need not try and move. The lazier you are with this the better it works. Cutting new green wood is easier than old dead dry wood. You will be able to cut larger sections on green wood ( out the tree or bush) than old wood that has been left to dry.
5. To get the best leverage open the length as long as you can by twisuing the handle then twisting it back to lock.
6. On finishing please wipe the debris from the cutting blade and lightly oil the ratchet and cutting blades.
